New Director for the Board of the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA)

Nathan Gary Bucknall

“I believe in Samoa as a destination and my goal is to do all I can to assist in growing visitor numbers to Samoa which will benefit all people and industry sectors”. These were the words of Mr. Nathan Gary Bucknall in response to his recent appointment to the Board of Directors for the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA). Mr Bucknall has been involved in tourism and hospitality in Australia and the Pacific for nearly 20 years. Much of this time has been spent in senior management positions for hotels and resorts his most recent being the current General Manager for Taumeasina Island Resort. He has extensive experience working with stakeholders across the tourism sector in order to achieve shared goals. He also understands the processes of contributing on a Board having had to report to shareholders & directors for the performance various Resorts he has had to manage.

Mr. Bucknall is looking forward to working with the Board as it supports and guides the efforts of the Samoa Tourism Authority to positively grow tourism numbers. “To achieve this growth we can have many key performance indicators: increased visitor numbers, increased length of stay, increased satisfaction, increased inbound tourism products and increased international visibility for Samoa” (Nathan Gary Bucknall).

Mr Bucknall’s appointment to the Board of the Samoa Tourism Authority was approved by Cabinet on the 30 August 2017. The appointment is for three years.
